Recently, the Conservative party has put forward a bill (The Opportunity for Workers with Disabilities Act) in the House of Commons that they think might assist more people with disabilities in Canada get into the workforce. The bill is unlikely to pass unless the Liberals get on board.

The bill, it is passed, would amend the Federal Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act to make sure that people with disabilities don’t lose more money through taxation or the loss of beneits they gain as a result of finding a job. The Conservatives argue that as it stands now, a person with disabilities might actually lose income by not joining the workforce.
