Erricka wanted to work and knew that finding a job would help to increase her independence. As a recipient of Income Support, and facing some medical challenges, Erricka sought the support of EmployAbilities.
How We Helped
EmployAblities provides specialized services to individuals with disabilities or barriers to employment by creating opportunities for skill development, education and employment. Erricka received support in resume development and searching for jobs that matched her skills and interests. EmployAbilities also provided coaching in interview skills, conversation skills and managing stress and anxiety.
Celebrating Success
With some coaching and encouragement, Erricka found a cleaning job at a senior citizen’s lodge in Bonnyville, Alberta. After gaining confidence in a part time tole, Erricka negotiated increased hours. Erricka is no longer on Income Support and her job success has afforded her the option to move out of her parent’s house and increase her independence.
