Skye was referred to Lakeland Employment Services in November of 2023. Skye came into the program with many barriers to employment. She had no childcare for her little one and had not worked for 3-4 years. Skye stated that she had low self-esteem and confidence, which made her very scared to do an interview, and she did not know where to start with job searching and networking.
The facilitator worked closely with Skye, conducting one-on-one workshops and training and building her self-esteem and employment skills. Skye attended most job club workshops and even participated by answering and asking questions. Skye started taking her Level 1 Early Childhood Education course online, and by mid-December, she was actively seeking employment and networking with employers. Skye gained full-time employment in January with Right to Play as a Youth Monitor.
Skye has overcome some barriers and will continue to do so as she succeeds in her life and career. Skye thanked the facilitator for all her help and said she would try to complete her ECE Level One course. Checking in with Skye 6-months later to see how she was doing, and Skye stated that she completed her ECE and is still working for Right to Play and loving it. Way to go, Skye!
