Stephanie possesses an extensive work history in hospitality (Front of House Manager, Guest Services Manager, Guest Services, etc.) She reported she had been dismissed from her last five employers for not meeting performance expectations, missing work and interpersonal conflicts. She indicated that work performance was best when doing administration back of house duties, if she had to direct or engage staff along side all other duties she became overwhelmed and could not effectively manage her teams. This became better understood after a neurological assessment results.
Employment Readiness Workshops
While supporting Stephanie, she completed employment readiness workshops and explored career options and job targets. In addition, EmployAbilities provided targeted resume support, interview practice, job search assistance and once-employed retention services. Stephanie received extensive coaching in time management, learning new roles, problem-solving, prioritizing and understanding and promotion of self-care. Stephanie was also provided with a connection to mental health resources.
Work-from-home employment
Stephanie accepted a work-from-home opportunity with ONEC Group – Logistics as a part-time Reservations Agent and Customer Service Coordinator. Despite the hospitality background, there were glaring differences; working from home involved organizing her home and personal life with the training and work schedule. This was both a positive and a challenge for Stephanie. She was assisted to transition into her role with weekly coaching sessions and supported to incorporate self care into her daily routine.
Happy on the job
Stephanie has become more confident and competent in her role and is experiencing success in the area of life management. Her employer offered her F/T employment, which she eagerly accepted with an awareness of taking on too much. Recently, Stephanie has been feeling overwhelmed, and as a result, she has reduced her work hours with the support of her employer. We are happy to report Stephanie has attained her 6 months on the job, she is happy with the job and the support from her employer.
