*What is a barrier to employment?
A barrier to employment is anything that makes it harder for you to find and keep a job. This includes not speaking English very well, not being able to accept jobs that are far away from where you live because you can’t get there, or having a disability. Millions of Canadians have disabilities – including newcomers!
Disabilities include:
- Mental health conditions, like anxiety and depression
- Visible disabilities, like needing a walker or a cane
- Medical conditions, like high blood pressure
