October was Alberta Disability Employment Awareness Month (ADEAM). ADEAM was established to increase the awareness of positive outcomes of hiring persons with disabilities in Alberta.
Throughout the month of October ADEAM worked closely with community agencies across the province to aid in the development of programs that understand and reflect business concerns and employers expectations in regards to hiring persons with disabilities.
To help raise awareness ADEAM:
- Ran a social media campaign on Facebook and Twitter, highlighting success stories and sharing resources.
- Developed a strategy to identify and remove barriers for disability employment.
- Hosted the Employers of Distinction Awards to honour and celebrate progressive employers who hire persons with disabilities.
- Produced a video that present the business case for hiring persons with disabilities.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this awareness campaign a huge success!
