In late July the Bonnyville and Cold Lake EmployAbilities’ staff participated in the Bonnyville & District Chamber of Commerce Annual Chili Cook-off, held each year to kick off Bonnyville’s Rodeo and Chuckwagon Races weekend and raise money for a local charity.
EmployAbilities’ staff and colleagues from Alberta Works and accès emploi entered into the Team Spirit awards category with a “Chili of All Trades”. Team members dressed in coveralls and hard hats to reflect the trades; decorations included survey flagging, toy trucks, loaders and other trades related materials. The chili was presented in bowls built out of Lego blocks and served to judges on the end of a shovel.
Members of the Team Spirit Award winning team included (from left in picture) Donna Auger, Alberta Works; Heather Paquette, Bonnyville & Cold Lake Employment Services; Sheila Hubbard, Cold Lake EmployAbilities; Janet Olsen, Bonnyville EmployAbilities and (not pictured) Jan Watson, Program Coordinator, North Central-East Region; Jeannette Lange, Alberta Works; Carmen Vincent, accès emploi, and Pauline Gamache, Alberta Works.
The event was a great way to work together as a team while meeting local residents and sharing information on EmployAbilities with the community.
