We are pleased to announce the launch of our brand new and improved website! We know that this new website will make information more accessible to our clients and the employers and organizations we work with. It has a refreshed look, better functionality, is mobile friendly, professional and information is easily to find.
How We Got There
We identified in 2016 that the current EmployAbilities website was old, outdated, difficult to update and was not mobile friendly. The need for a new website was great, but finding the money to have a high caliber website developed was challenging.
In the spring of 2017, the Executive Director of EmployAbilities applied for a grant from the Edmonton Communication Foundation (EFC). The grant application was accepted and EmployAbilities received the generous funding of $20,000 from the ECF. Without their support, this project would not have been possible.
A committee of 5 EmployAbilities staff was established to identify what was required in the new website. Discussion included the target audience, overall web design, goals of the website and the key information that had to be readily available to visitors and accessible to our clients with disabilities. We also wanted the website to be mobile friendly.
We interviewed two web development companies in June of 2017. We chose Habit, an Edmonton-based firm. Not only did they give a great presentation, they were able to work with EmployAbilities to customize the design according to our specific needs and goals. We were impressed by their previous work and their cost was within our budget. The team at Habit got to work and the new website launched on January 5, 2018.
