Hundreds of Disabled Albertans and their supporters gathered on the steps of Edmonton’s legislature yesterday to protest the governments plan to restructure funding for people with disabilities.¬† They urged the government to rethink the $42-million dollar provincial budget cut to Persons with Developmental Disabilities’ community access support fund and the overall restructuring of how people who require the PDD funds will receive them.
There are currently about 10,200 adults with disabilities who qualify for PDD funding.   There have been worries about the impact of Alberta’s 2013-14 budget and they have been growing since the spending plan was introduced in March.
