On October 21, Labour Force Link (LFL) and EmployAbilities North (EAN) hosted a Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) celebration at Hotel Dene in Cold Lake. The event brought together 26 attendees from local businesses, community organizations, and employment partners to recognize and promote inclusive hiring practices.

LFL and EAN staff delivered their joint presentation, “Hiring Made Simple: Inclusive Hiring Resource Guide,” which provided employers with practical tools and insights to make inclusive recruitment more accessible and effective.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the DEAM Award to Chris from Arkane Angel, recognizing his outstanding commitment to inclusive hiring. LFL staff shared the following message during the award presentation:

“Every October, Disability Employment Awareness Month reminds us that inclusion isn’t just a value, it’s an action. It’s the daily choices we make to open doors, remove barriers, and celebrate talent in all its forms. This award recognizes someone who truly embodies that spirit. Chris and the team at Arkane Angel have shown what it means to lead with empathy and intention, not just talking about inclusive hiring, but living it. They’ve proven that accessibility and excellence go hand in hand.”

The event was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate community leadership, strengthen local partnerships, and continue the conversation about building more inclusive workplaces across the region.
