
On October 28, Labour Force Link and EmployAbilities North partnered with Taproot and VALID in Vegreville to host an engaging and meaningful employer event that brought together 17 attendees for a morning of learning, connection, and celebration of inclusive hiring practices.
The event took place at the Vegreville Diner, a beautiful and welcoming venue. Owner, Rahoul and his team provided exceptional service and delicious food, creating the perfect atmosphere for open conversation and community connection.
Attendees participated in a Business Card Mixer, where participants were challenged to connect with at least three new people, sparking great networking and meaningful exchanges among employers and community organizations. A lively “Myths or Truths About Disability” interactive game followed, encouraging reflection and discussion on common misconceptions about disability and employment.
EmployAbilities North and Labour Force Link presented a short session on Inclusive Hiring Practices, during which attendees received a complimentary printed copy of the Hiring Made Simple Resource Guide, featuring practical and downloadable templates and checklists for employers.
The event featured presentations from Taproot and VALID, who shared insights into their services and how they support inclusive employment in the region. The welcoming setting encouraged meaningful conversation and collaboration, highlighting the community’s strong commitment to creating inclusive and supportive workplaces.
