EmployAbilities believes that employment is about more than just finding a job — it’s about building confidence, independence, and a life filled with possibility. Sometimes, what seems like a small gesture can have a life-changing impact.

Recently, one of our clients shared her story after receiving a clothing voucher for Mark’s, and her words are a powerful reminder of how practical support can uplift people in meaningful ways.

“Thank you so very much for the voucher for Mark’s. I had been wearing cheap clothing from Wish that had been developing holes and shirts from the Dollar store. With your gift I purchased 2 pairs of jeans, 1 pair of linen slacks, 3 button down blouses, and a cooling bandanna. It has been such a huge lift to my self esteem to be able to wear decent clothes for the first time in years. With my increased confidence I am better able to face the restaurant staff and the customers in my current job. I can also see this clothing helping me find even better employment once I increase my physical capacity. Thank you again for your continued support as I try to remain independent.”

For this client, the clothing wasn’t just about appearance (though that is important in the workplace). It was about feeling dignified, prepared, and confident in her role at work. It helped her feel seen and valued, both by her employer and by herself.

Employabilities offers practical support for your job search journey

EmployAbilities provides free job support for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. This includes job skills training, resume building, career exploration, interview preparation, employer connections and more. But just as importantly, we offer practical help, like getting clients the right clothes for the job or helping them access transportation. We can also provide access to technology, like computers and printers, needed for job applications.

These supports may seem simple, but they often make all the difference in helping someone succeed and stay in the workforce.

Creating confidence and independence

We’re so proud of this client and inspired by her determination. Her story is one of many we hear every day; stories of people rising to meet challenges, achieving new goals, and finding independence with just a little extra support.

At EmployAbilities, we know that every person deserves the opportunity to work in a role that’s meaningful to them. Learn more about our programs.
