This Firday and Saturday will see people involved with disability services taking steps – literally – to increase awareness to their cause. The Lac La Biche EmployAbilities office is hosting a brunch and walk about events this weekend to draw attention to barrier free workplaces for people with disabilities.

Walk and Talk

The walkabout will take place on Friday, starting at 1:00 PM at the Program for Adult Learning office near the Ginger House restaurant. The purpose of the walk is to take information materials to local businesses to raise awareness around the benefits of equal-opportunity hiring.

On Saturday, a brunch will be held at the McArthur Place Tea Room starting at 10:00 AM, featuring guest speaker Shelley Thody, a local teacher and author who has written about living with bipolar disorder.

The brunch is free and is geared towards local business people. To register, or for more information, contact Missy Jacknife at 780-623-1281.
