Information from Alberta Human Services
Employment provides us all with the opportunity to make more money, learn new skills, build new relationships and feel a closer connection to our community. But Albertans with disabilities have a 15% lower workforce participation rates than average due to a number of challenges including transportation difficulties and public perceptions.
The Alberta Employment First Strategy calls on governments, employers, agencies, and Albertans to work together to welcome more people with disabilities into our workplaces.
Please enjoy the free Employment First Webcast Series, an ongoing series to help Albertans understand the barriers, solutions and benefits to employing persons with disabilities.
Human Services has formed an Employer Advisory Councils for both the Private Sector and the Public Sector to provide advice and solutions to help more people with disabilities get into the workforce.
Human Services has also created an Employment First Innovation Fund and Employment First Internship Program to create more employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
