Chronic pain is defined as pain that continues longer than what would normally be expected in the course of healing naturally.

Chronic pain can interfere with work, leisure and even how you interact in your relationships.¬† The Journal of American Geriatrics Society released a study that stated “people with chronic pain develop functional limitations that are typically associated with aging at much younger-than-expected ages.”

The study does not quite determine whether disability causes chronic pain OR chronic pain causes disability.  The researchers do suggest that chronic pain and disability do aggravate each other.   Chronic pain should be managed and treated appropriately to improve a higher quality of life and promote a healthier aging process.
