Province plans to replace PDD boards with local councils for disabled

    EDMONTON – The Alberta government said Wednesday it plans to introduce legislation this fall that would collapse regional boards for some of the province’s most vulnerable people in favour of new local councils.

    The Family and Community Engagement Councils would replace the six existing Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) boards and the 10 Child and Family Services Authorities (CFSAs) scattered throughout the province.

    Human Services Minister Dave Hancock said the change will mean more consistent and efficient services for people who need them.
